Mrs Doyle: What would you say to a cup father?
[offers him a cup of tea]
Father Jack Hackett: FECK OFF, CUP!
After these - I’ll be back to navel gazing…
It’s a pity the website of the paper is so bloody boring! The actual front page is colourful and the headline is huge. Thi is exactly where I am coming from…
Had to post this. This brings back memories. The Adventures were a group from Northern Ireland, back in the eighties. This is up there with my all time favourite pop toons. One of those songs that should have done a lot better in the charts than it did. I saw them in Queen’s University student union, Belfast, way back then. Before the gig the lead singer was using the public phone and I gave him a coin to finish his call. I’m sure I have photos of the gig somewhere. I used to do that - bring a 35mm camera, a huge flash and lens and photograph them. I have photos of Sinead O’Connor during her first gig and many band who have since disapeared (Aztec Camera being one I remember).
Watch this video - it is so good. The eighties were a good decade if you weren’t a greedy bastard.
A few years ago I was a manager of a charity shop. One day I was sorting through books - throwing out those whose spines where broken; missing pages etc. One book caught my attention - a biography of Louise Brooks, a silent actress I had never heard of. It’s pages were falling out, so instead of throwing it out, I took it home. I read the book and fell in love.
